GARDEN LIGHTING FAQ’S
For mains-voltage outdoor lighting, yes. All mains garden electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician and notified to building control. We work with trusted electrical contractors where needed, or you can use your own. Low-voltage systems powered by an outdoor-rated transformer are more straightforward and can often be installed without notification.
Low-voltage systems run at 12V from a transformer, which makes them safer and easier to install and modify. Mains systems run at 230V and are better suited to larger areas or brighter outputs. For most garden lighting schemes, low-voltage LED is the most practical and energy-efficient choice.
It can, though it is much easier to plan and install lighting as part of the original project. Retrofitting cables after paving or decking is in place involves more disruption. Where possible, we always recommend planning lighting at the design stage.
Yes. We can set up timer controls, dusk-to-dawn sensors, or integrate with smart home systems depending on your preference and the system specified. We will discuss the control options at the design stage.
