A standard turfing project typically takes one to three days, depending on the size and condition of the ground. Larger gardens or projects requiring extensive ground preparation may take longer. A clear programme is agreed before work starts.
Turf can be laid for most of the year, though spring and autumn generally give the best establishment conditions due to milder temperatures and reliable rainfall. Summer laying is possible with additional watering, and this is confirmed during the initial visit.
Light foot traffic is usually fine after two to three weeks, once the roots have begun to establish. Heavier use, such as regular play or mowing, is best delayed for four to six weeks depending on the season.
In some cases, yes, provided the existing ground is levelled and prepared correctly first. The site is always assessed before work begins. Where the existing ground is not suitable, full removal and re-preparation is recommended to give the new lawn the best start.
