Planting FAQ’S
Both. We can design a full planting scheme based on your brief, or work with a plant list you already have in mind. Most clients find it useful to go through the design process with us, as getting the right species for the conditions makes a significant difference to how the planting performs over time.
Autumn and early spring are generally the best times for most trees, shrubs, and perennials. Planting during cooler, wetter conditions gives roots the best chance to establish before summer heat. We can plant year-round but will always advise if timing is likely to affect establishment.
Perennials and shrubs typically start to look settled within one growing season. Trees may take two to three years to really come into their own. We select plants at appropriate sizes to avoid the wait being too long, and we avoid the temptation to overplant at the outset, which causes problems further down the line.
We focus on design and installation rather than ongoing maintenance. We are happy to recommend trusted garden maintenance companies in Dorset & The New Forest if you would like support after the project is complete.
